Common questions
Questions we hear a lot.
How does VertiSource HR pricing work?
VertiSource HR uses a quote-based, per-employee-per-month (PEPM) model. Your rate depends on headcount, the services you select, your state footprint, and the complexity of your payroll. We don't publish flat rates because a 15-person hospitality business in three states has a very different HR load than a 15-person technology firm operating in one. After a 20-minute discovery call, we provide a written quote. No pressure, no surprises.
What does PEPM mean?
PEPM stands for Per Employee Per Month. It's the standard pricing unit in the HR outsourcing and PEO industry. You pay a flat rate for each employee on payroll, and that rate covers the services bundled into your plan. Your specific rate depends on headcount, the states you operate in, and the services you select. The PEPM model is predictable, scales with your team, and ties costs directly to headcount, so spend grows with your business, not ahead of it.
Are there setup fees or long-term contracts?
VertiSource HR does not charge hidden setup fees. We discuss contract terms openly during the quoting process, including length, exit provisions, and service-level commitments. Our goal is to earn your long-term relationship through results, not lock-in clauses. If something isn't working, we'd rather fix it than hold you to paperwork.
What's included in the base price vs. add-ons?
Your base PEPM covers the service modules in your agreed scope, typically payroll, compliance, and advisor access at minimum. Workers' compensation, benefits administration, HRIS, recruiting, and compliance training are bundled depending on your selected tier. Nothing is added to your invoice without your agreement. During your quote call, we walk through every line item so you know exactly what you're buying.
How does pricing compare to hiring in-house HR?
A single in-house HR generalist in the U.S. costs $65,000–$95,000 per year in salary alone, before benefits, payroll tax, software subscriptions, and training. A full-stack PEO like VertiSource HR covers payroll, benefits admin, compliance, and a senior advisor on a flat per-employee monthly rate, and eliminates workers' comp vendor fees, benefits broker markups, and HRIS licensing on top. Most clients with fewer than 150 employees find outsourcing meaningfully less expensive than building an internal HR function, and the coverage is broader from day one.
