The questions most new partners ask before their first referral.

Who can refer? Do I need to be a broker?
Anyone can refer. Existing VSHR clients, accountants, consultants, or just someone who knows a business owner who’d benefit. The only people ineligible are VSHR sales staff and the referral’s own employees. Brokers and agencies get the extended residual track; one-off referrers get the bounty.
What’s my reward worth, exactly?
One-off bounty: $500 (5–25 employees), $1,500 (26–100), $3,000+ for larger accounts negotiated pre-submission. Broker track: residual commission on total payroll processed, paid monthly, never declines at renewal. Exact residual % is in the partner agreement. Email partners@vertisourcehr.com to see it.
When and how do I get paid?
Bounty: after your referral completes 3 consecutive months of payroll with VSHR. Paid via ACH for non-clients, or credited to your invoice if you’re an existing VSHR client. Broker residuals: monthly, starting month 1, via ACH. We issue 1099-MISC for bounty awards over $600 annually.
How do I track referral status?
Every referral gets a unique tracking link emailed to you after submission. Log in to see where your referral is in the sales cycle (contacted / proposal / active / paid). Brokers get the full pipeline dashboard with revenue projections. No more “call us to check” guessing games.
What is AOR protection and why should I care?
“Agent of Record” designation. Who controls the broker relationship on an account. Some PEOs let a client switch their AOR to another broker and redirect commissions. We don’t. Once you’re the AOR, you stay the AOR for the life of the account, even if the client fires you from their other coverage. Your VSHR residuals can’t be taken from you.
What’s the difference between the broker track and the one-off bounty?
Bounty: one-time payment for a single referral. Anyone can do it. No agreement needed beyond the referral form. Broker track: ongoing partner agreement with residual commissions, AOR protection, co-selling support (joint demos, decks, deal desk), and monthly payouts. For brokers/agencies with an active book, the broker track always pays more over 12+ months.
Is there a limit on how many clients I can refer?
No. No caps, no quotas, no minimum volume. Refer zero or refer fifty. Same deal. Brokers who refer 10+ in a year automatically qualify for an upgraded residual tier and quarterly business reviews with VSHR leadership.
What if the company is already in your pipeline?
If you submit a referral before our sales team has an active conversation with that company, you’re the registered referrer. Even if we’ve spoken to them historically. If they’re an open opportunity when you submit, we’ll tell you within 24 hours and you can decide whether to proceed (sometimes a warm intro accelerates a stalled deal). We never hide pipeline conflicts from you.
What industries are the best fits to refer?
Any industry with 5–500 employees, though we’re strongest in: construction & trades, healthcare & dental, hospitality & restaurants, manufacturing, professional services (law / accounting / consulting), and nonprofits. Multi-state employers, hourly-heavy workforces, and companies wrestling with ACA or workers’ comp are our sweet spots.
